Girls Got Grit Book

Girls Got Grit is a Book about Kiwi Girls.

It celebrates girls who follow their curiosity to the point that it becomes a passion.  They stick with something and get better and better at it through the hard parts as well as the fun parts.

Research shows that Grit is 2x more important than talent for long-term success in any field.

If we are to fix the wage gap, to make much-needed changes in the world then we need girls with grit to help us get there.

If you have a daughter that has grit and you want to show her that you think that is pretty darn special, then you might want to consider putting her forward to be featured in the book.  (sign up at the bottom of the page).

The Evolution of an Idea

Last year I spent it traveling the country working with mothers and daughters learning about body compassion.   I photographed heaps of gorgeous creatures.  I loved it...but it bugged me a bit too and I couldn't figure out why.   It was beautiful, surreally beautiful, some of my best work.   Then it hit me... it focused on the outside and not the inside.   Everything I do and teach within the trust is about the inside...about mojo.  So this year I am going on a mission to showcase the grit I see in girls and attempt to keep it just as beautiful but with more depth, this go round.

Supporting the Trust

The Girls Got Grit book is a fundraiser for the Every Body is a Treasure Charitable Trust.  A New Zealand Charity that's aim is to foster a MojolutionA generation of resilient girls that keeps their girl power, compassion, and creativity no matter what life throws at them.  They dream of a world balanced by powerful female leaders and put on the Girls Got Grit Forums around the country.

In a Masters Hands

My degree is in nursing and I specialized in Women's Health.  I am a 4th level Master Photographer with the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers and a  Be Body Positive Facilitator.

I support Every Body is a Treasure to put on award-winning Girl Grit workshops.

The Girls Got Grit Leadership Weekends are Mother-Daughter workshops designed to help our girls get the tools to keep their girl power and mums get a bit of a mojo boost.

Each photo shoot for the book comes with a double pass to the workshops.
